One Year Strong – WSCC’s International Women’s Day Celebration

On Saturday 8 March 2025, the Women’s Shed Central Coast proudly celebrated its first anniversary with a vibrant community event at our Berkeley Vale location. Held on International Women’s Day, the celebration was a joyful reflection of everything the Shed stands for—community, creativity, and connection.

Members, supporters, volunteers, and special guests gathered to mark this important milestone. Chair Gretchen Miller opened the event with heartfelt reflections on the Shed’s incredible journey and the impact it has had over the past year. We also heard from Shoebox Revolution, who shared the powerful work they’re doing to support vulnerable women, and Emma McBride MP, who recognised the vital role WSCC plays in empowering women across the Central Coast. Long-time supporter Maree Salmon offered a personal and moving reflection on the friendships and confidence she’s found through the Shed. The event was seamlessly emceed by the ever-wonderful Katherine Watkins, whose warmth, humour, and well-known love of chickens made everyone feel instantly at home. A short singing performance also added a lovely touch to the celebration.

We were thrilled to welcome several other local representatives, whose presence reminded us just how valued the Shed has become in our community.

A highlight of the day was the display of member creations from the past year—an inspiring showcase of skills learned and projects completed through our workshops. It stood as a proud and visual reminder of how far we’ve come together.

Of course, no Shed event would be complete without food made with love. Our members once again delivered a generous spread of homemade treats, and we were lucky to have Curby’s Coastwide Café keeping everyone caffeinated with delicious coffee.

This celebration was more than a birthday—it was a recognition of the strength, generosity, and spirit that makes the Women’s Shed Central Coast what it is. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring the day to life. We can’t wait to see what year two brings.
